This healthy air fryer pizza recipe has ripe tomatoes, zucchini, fresh mozzarella, garlic, and it’s ready in about 10 minutes!
I was surprised to learn that you can make pizza in the air fryer in 10-minutes flat. I hate turning on my oven in the summer, but I love using seasonal veggies on top of a pizza.
After experimenting a bit, I learned that you can top a store-bought pizza dough with cheese, veggies, garlic and olive oil and pop it in the air fryer for a delicious vegetarian summer meal.
And the best part is that the air fryer creates a yummy golden brown pizza that has a crispy crust and bubbly cheese. Plus, you can switch up the toppings and make an air fryer pizza any way you like.
Can you cook pizza in the air fryer?
You can definitely make a pizza in the air fryer, and this recipe show you how easy it is. Air fryers use circulating convection heat to create a crispy texture and cook food quickly.
That’s what makes them the perfect tool for cooking pizza. The hot air circulates around the pizza, creating a crispy crust, cooking the vegetables and melting the cheese.
Not to mention that you can heat up pizza in the air fryer in minutes. Pop leftover pizza into the air fryer for 5 minutes at about 300 degrees for a crispy hot slice.
How long should you cook pizza in the air fryer?
This pizza recipe takes about 11 minutes total. It has two parts– (1) preheating the dough and (2) cooking the pizza toppings.
First, you oil the pizza dough and place it in the air fryer with the oil side down. Then you cook the dough for 3 minutes. Take the pizza out of the air fryer and cover it with toppings. For this pizza, use fresh mozzarella, tomato slices, yellow and green zucchini slices and minced garlic.
Put the pizza back in the air fryer for 4 minutes, then rotate the basket and cook for an additional 4 minutes. After 11 minutes, you have a pizza that is crispy on the top and soft on the bottom.
Can I use store-bought dough?
You can absolutely use store-bought pizza dough to make this recipe. As a matter of fact, the recipe calls for it!
I don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen, mixing and kneading dough, then letting it rise. Instead, I buy a store-bought pizza dough from the grocery store and it tastes just as food!
Can I make this vegan?
Absolutely. I made a vegan version of this air fryer pizza for my husband. Instead of the fresh mozzarella, I used cashew cheese. You can use any type of vegan cheese that you like!
Or if you prefer not to use cheese, you’ll need something creamy to help the vegetables adhere to the dough. Try an olive tapenade or a roasted red pepper spread.
Ingredients
This air fryer pizza calls for just a few simple ingredients, including:
- Store-bought pizza dough
- Fresh mozzarella
- Tomato slices
- Green and yellow zucchini slices
- Garlic
- Olive oil
That’s it! It’s so easy to make.
Swaps & Additions
Like most of the recipe on my site, you can switch this pizza up to be exactly as you like it! If you want to add another veggie or type of cheese, go for it! Want to garnish with fresh basil? Do it!
Here are some of my suggestions for how you can make swaps:
- Use shredded mozzarella instead of fresh
- Use goat cheese instead of mozzarella
- Add fresh corn to the summer veggies
- Add bell pepper slices
- Garnish with fresh basil
- Sprinkle with oregano
- Leave off the cheese and replace with olive tapenade or roasted red pepper spread
What can I serve with Air Fryer Pizza?
I like to serve this pizza with a nice fresh side salad. This Peach Panzanella Salad also utilizes fresh summer produce. It’s also good with roasted veggies, like roasted garlic or broccoli.
