Chicken Soup With Wings Recipe – How to make the best easy chicken broth or homemade stock from scratch – with the video tutorial.
Chicken Soup With Wings
This chicken soup with wings recipe is a hearty, amazing soup that’s a great way to warm up on a chilly day or when you’re craving a healing, homemade meal.
I like to make this type of soup the day before I plan to serve it so that it has plenty of time to slowly cook and then develop flavor in the fridge overnight before enjoying a hearty soup full of flavor.
You can enjoy the soup as a main dish on it’s own or strain the broth and use it as the perfect base in another simple soup as a homemade chicken stock.
We enjoy the soup as it is, straight from the pot, but you could strain the soup and then add back in whatever vegetables you like, along with chicken meat that you remove from the bones.
My kids and Husband are quite happy to pick off the bones themselves, so I simply keep what we like to call a bone plate on the table to pile high with bones as we slurp through our soup.
Delicious Soup Recipe Ingredients
These are the ingredients that are included in our own favorite chicken soup recipe, along with ideas for more ingredients that your family may enjoy.
Chicken – when it comes to choosing which chicken piece to use in soup, wings are our favorite because of the flavor from all of the bone marrow and how budget friendly it is.
You could swap for a whole chicken or use chicken drumsticks or any other chicken parts you like. You could also fry up a chicken breast or two to add more flavor and nutrition when serving the soup.
Vegetables – you can include a small onion, garlic cloves, chopped green onions, chopped celery stalks, celery sticks or celery tops or any other fresh vegetables or even odd bits of vegetable scraps you like.
To me, traditional chicken soups just have to include chopped carrots. so I always add a few unpeeled, chopped carrots into my broth.
Seasoning – add in salt and pepper to taste, along with any other seasoning you like such as fresh thyme or bay leaves.
Apple cider vinegar is included because it helps balance the flavors of the soup as well as help draw essential nutrients from the chicken bones.
You can turn the soup into a homemade chicken noodle soup by adding in egg noodles, ramen noodles or your soup noodle of choice.
To make a cream of chicken soup, simply strain the soup into a clean pot, adding back in any chicken or vegetables you like, along with your choice from cream, sour cream, cream cheese or any other creamy ingredients you like and then blend with a stick blender until you have a silky smooth creamy soup.
