Dallas Cowboys eye new fitness center at Baylor Scott & White campus east of downtown Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys are working on plans for a new fitness center on the Baylor Scott & White campus in East Dallas.

The football team opened its first Cowboys Fit workout center in 2017 in Frisco. It’s part of the team’s mixed-use development known as The Star.

The 60,000-square-foot fitness center was an instant hit with customers who wanted to exercise like an NFL player and maybe alongside Cowboys team members, who can use the facility next to their headquarters and practice field.

Cowboys Fit has since opened additional locations on the AT&T campus in downtown Dallas, in Plano and in Pflugerville, north of Austin.

Now, Cowboys Fit is eyeing another location at the Baylor Scott & White medical campus east of downtown. The almost 45,000-square-foot facility is planned on Washington Avenue, according to planning documents filed with the state.

The $3 million facility is scheduled to open this fall.

The first-floor location will include “various exercise areas, and locker rooms for the purpose of a multi-purpose health club facility,” according to the state filings.

A Cowboys spokesman said there was no additional information available yet on the project.

The new Cowboys Fit is planned at what has previously operated as the Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center. Its operations have been limited since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
