HAMPTON — Planet Fitness is committed to supporting its local communities, especially in the company’s HQ backyard in New Hampshire. In 2021, 100 percent of equipment from Planet Fitness’ corporate clubs was either re-sold, donated or recycled – and this includes donations to local first responders.
The Hampton-based company has recently donated treadmills, stationary bikes, rowers, stair-climbers, ellipticals, leg-extension circuit machines and more to five departments including fire stations in Hampton, North Hampton, and Durham, as well as a donation to the Seabrook Police. In 2021, donations included three pieces of equipment to the Hampton Fire Department, with an additional six pieces of equipment donated to the North Hampton Fire Department. In 2022, the company continued its efforts with donations of a treadmill to the Seabrook Police Department and three pieces of equipment to the Durham Fire Department.
With 77% of Americans reporting that at least one aspect of their health or well-being has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and as first responders and essential workers experience prolonged levels of high-stress and long shifts, exercise and fitness continue to play an increased role in easing stress and positively impacting mental health.
